Large area spread Buddhist Monastery which located in Trincomalee. A great place to observe the ancient civilization with Buddhist ruins in the eastern part of Sri Lanka. According to the archaeological fact, this Buddhist Monastery was built by King Dewanampiyatissa (307-267 BC). This temple was rebuilt in many times due to destroy by invasion. After the collapse of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa ears, people migrate to other parts and this glorious temple was abandoned and destroyed due to natural circumstances. During the Cholas invasion, they have added their religion things to this temple and late it became Hindu Temple as well. In here can find Buddhist and Hindu ancient ruins. There were thousands of Buddhist Monks in history because there is a Monastery Complex with many ancient ruins. Those still exist today by presenting the glorious history.
