A truly magnificent place bounded to the superb stunning lagoon. One of the sacred place of the Sri Lanka where Prince Dantha and Princess Hemamala brought the Sacred Tooth Relic of Buddha. They have landed to here and that is one of the very sacred places of Trincomalee. After that, this place became Buddhist Monastery and many kings were supported and developed the Lanka Patuna Temple. This place is a great place to observe the ancient civilization and found many building complexes in here. Not even that many Lord Buddha statues are found in here but most of the statues were destroyed by LTTE Carders. It was one of the great significant milestones of ancient time. There are many ancient ruins can be found in here with 50 acres surface. Unfortunately, L.T.T.E Carders have destroyed the Buddhist Monastery in 1990 and 2000 years. Also, they have built Hindu Kovil by destroying the Buddhist evidence in this land. But the destruction of LTTE since 2009 Sri Lankan government and archaeology department has been restored the destroyed things. The destroyed pagoda has been built by the Government recently.
